Kassie Canter

As Executive Vice President of Communications for the Viacom Music & Entertainment Group, Kassie Canter oversees all corporate communications and entertainment publicity for the multiplatform portfolio of brands led by MTV, Comedy Central, Spike, VH1, MTV2 and Logo.

Canter is responsible for all internal and external communications, developing and implementing a coordinated communications strategy, and supporting the group’s focus through media outreach, messaging, and other communications opportunities, including conferences and events. She also manages the individual Music & Entertainment Group’s communications teams as they publicize content and communicate the value of their brands in the marketplace.

Previously, Canter served as Chief Communications Officer for Oxygen Media, where she oversaw all public relations and public affairs activities. Prior to joining Oxygen, Canter was Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Media Relations for NBC. In her role, she led all communications for NBC Corporate, NBC News, NBC Sports, CNBC and MSNBC, and managed corporate communications around acquisitions, legislative issues, and the Olympics.

Both independently and with the public relations firm Robinson, Lerer & Montgomery, Canter has served as a communications consultant for various media brands throughout her career, including AMC Networks, Lifetime, The Weather Channel, and Viacom’s own Comedy Central, MTV, and Nickelodeon. She has been a lecturer on the faculty of Columbia University’s Masters Program in Strategic Communications.

Canter holds a MPA from The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a BA from Tufts University.
